Serving Up Some Southwest Chili for My Entertaining Boss Babes

It’s football season boss babes and you know what that means: entertainment, fun foods, and great company. From the dishes you may serve come great ideas to have for your busy work week, whether it be for lunch or dinner. One of my personal favorites and go-to’s is this southwest chili. It’s easy to make and a sure win at the dinner table.

The first thing you are going to want to do is pick your source of meat/protein for the chili. I personally do not eat red meats, so use ground turkey or ground chicken. You can also use Beyond Meat, as it is also a great source of protein to use for your chili. But, please choose the protein source that you like most. You can find these protein sources at any one of your local grocery stores. If you use ground turkey, my personal favorite is Butter Ball Turkey, as it’s clean and just a great quality brand. Now once you have your meat/protein, start to heat the meat up in a medium sized pot for it to brown. If you are cooking the meat from frozen, it may take a little longer, but just keep heating the meat until it is fully brown.

Most chilis call for a can of diced tomatoes, but to save some time for the busy Boss Babe, use your favorite mild to medium spiced pico de gallo. You’re not only getting the tomatoes, but the garlic and onion. It’s much cheaper than buying the various cans and it’s also fresh. You will want to add the pico de gallo to your meat/protein and continue to stir until the onions and tomatoes turn soft. Once that happens, you’ll then add in your tomato paste. Trader Joe’s has a great Italian tomato paste in a tub that not only adds flavor, but that classic deep red color for your chili.

You’re then going to add in the Southwest Chili beans. I drain the can, but if you don’t want to, you don’t have to, as you won’t have to add too much water in afterwards. Once you add the beans, I fill the can the beans came in with water to then add to the chili. Another short cut to get the chili seasonings is to buy a pack of chili mix found in your local grocery stores seasoning aisle. You’ll pour that into the mix and there you have it! You’re done! Now if you’re more of a spicy Boss Babe, don’t be afraid to add some extra heat by adding diced jalapeños and sriracha sauce to top it off. It’s that simple.
